There’s a regular college student named Light Yagami. One day, he gets a special notebook called the Death Note. This notebook makes him think he can bring justice to the world, and he starts using it to punish criminals by making them die.

Then there’s a famous private detective known as L. He’s the one trying to catch this guy who’s been using the Death Note to kill criminals. L shows up and gets involved in the story.
